Alain Roelant
CAMERATA CON COR(D)E An extremely beautiful recording. Congratulations Fr. Devreese, composer ...the succes of Camerata Con Cor(d)e is mainly due to founder and artistic director Alain Roelant. It is above all thanks to his clear and progressive vision regarding modern performance practice that this orchestra is filling up numerous gaps in the Belgian musical landscape... Jaak Gregoor ...the performance by the artistic director and the top musicians from this companiy during the recent Valentine‘s concert at the Leeuwse Cultureel Centrum Coloma belongs without doubt in the highest rank of classical music performances... Dennis Deneulin, Cultural officer, G.C.C. Coloma Sint-Pieters-Leeuw ...it is with genuine delight that I highly recommend this artist and his ensemble and also wish him every success in the rest of his artistic career. Now that is great ART... Marie-Claire Plets, chairwomen Elisabethiade FLANDERS TRUMPET and CHOIR Thank you very much for sending me this beautiful CD by the Flanders Trumpet Quartet with its fascinating pieces… Edward Tarr, Professor at the Musikhochschule in Basel … I want to thank you and congratulate you for the beautiful Flanders Trumpet Quartet CD. As a whole, it comes across as musically and technically convincing. The sound of the trumpet is melodious and full-bodied as well as being sparkling and radiant… K. D’Hooghe, honorary director, Royal Music Academy in Brussels Thank you so much for your fantastic trumpet quartet CD. It is a true pleasure to hear the beautiful sound of the quartet and the high level of musicality and perfect trumpet playing on this CD, Some of these pieces are obviously very demanding. I wonder if this is one ofthe very best trumpet ensemble CDs produced ever... Vera Horven, president ICG (International Trumpet Guild) Flanders Trumpet Choir; founded and led by the Belgian trumpeter Alain Roelant. This trumpet ensemble (4, 8, sometimes even 12 players) is developing an ‘elegant and supple way of playing, adapted to each style of work being interpreted’ … Its repertoire is surprisingly rich and also includes new works specially composed for him (by, amongst others, Daan Manneke, Jan Van Landeghem and Charles Camilleri). Brass Bulletin Amongst the numerous musical line-ups which formed in the gothic hall at the Hotel de Ville in Brussels in 87-88, the Flanders Trumpet Choir was one of the most impressive. Guy De Winne, Coördinator Buitenlands Netwerk (FIT) TRIO ALL'ARMI This CD (DDD) ‘ADW 7233 Pavane Records’ is, in our opinion, further characterised by a homogenous ensemble, a consistently sound interpretation of style and an absorbing musicality… … the virtuoso arias, the lyrical recitatives, the crystal clear trumpet and the balanced, supple organ playing grace the Bologna-Florentine score of A. Melani… … The imitations of the soprano timbres on the trumpet are worth a special mention… F. van Egghen, Het vrije Waasland … The interpretation is of the very highest class… O. Rouvière … with this interesting compilation of less well-known compositions by Stachowicz, Melani, Scarlatti and Purcell, a whole new genre is introduced to the audience: the trumpet aria, especially now when baroque is all the rage. For Roelant’s performance, nothing but praise, and the same goes for Van Landeghem … Marie-Noëlle de Callataÿ possesses a voice of exceptionally beautiful timbre… P. van Poucke, Music a privilege – September 1991 … the rendering and the interpretation are, of course, outstanding, technically deft and virtuoso and with an innate sense of style… The three Belgian soloists perform at an international level… JVD, De Standaard – 19th June 1991 ...this is an superb & beautiful ensemble of soprano, trumpet & organ... K. wha Jun, Seaoul Shinmun - may 22, 1992 ...In the Pavane disc trumpet and soprano vie with each other for purity of sound and accuracy of articulation and pitch... D. Moor, American Record Guide - november 1991 DUO ALL'ARMI … As the entry to the Suite in D by J. Clarke, the crystal clear and correct sound of the trumpeter comes … directly to the fore… …the ‘sybelle’ dialogue, the famous march ‘The Prince of Denmark’ and the lively echo effects in ‘bourée’ are fermented into flowing ensemble playing… … ‘aria’ illustrates some sparkling organ playing… F.v.E., Het Vrije Waasland – 29th January 1993 … beautiful passage changeovers with and without trumpet,… … with a leading role, a noble, dense sound, with richly composed mixtures, … accompanied by the assured trumpet playing of Alain Roelant… M. Roubinet, Diapason – September 1993 The volubility of the sentiments, and Alain Roelant’s purity of sound are perfectly seductive… Jan Van Landeghem has a pleasantly airy manner and he knows what it means to articulate a discourse… A beautiful sound recording… M.S., Privilège de la Musique – March 1993 … On Pavane, the Duo All’Armi has released a fine, not to say fantastic CD with music for organ and the ever enchanting combination of organ and trumpet. Duo All’ Armi is made up of two deft musicians… Their choice of music is sublime… … Much more important is the superb musical quality, the fresh authentic approach and the homogeneity… Fons de Haas, Knack - 21st April 1993 … in which the musicians are not just tightly attuned to each other, but also have the technical and artistic capability to adequately convey both old and new music… J.V.S. – Het Wekelijks Nieuws – 20th August 1993 (International Organ Festival) ALAIN ROELANT … the respect that Alain Roelant already commands in the trumpet world is unsurpassed… Where others stubbornly persist in producing only transcriptions, he had the excellent idea of resuscitating an original repertoire for voice, trumpet and organ in Trio All’Armi… M.S., Privilège de la Musique – March 1993 … The self-confidence and the technique are utterly convincing… Le Soir, 27th January 1983 Through the wealth of nuance and discrimination in his performance of these five pieces, Alain Roelant has succeeded in bringing out the characteristic features of each. Brass Bulletin no.44 Alain Roelant, brass player of international acclaim, who set up this ensemble, displays great finesse in nuance and interpretation. His full-bodied, mellow tone is moving, his individual energy energises the sound of his instrument. The quintet is in his image. High quality. M. Lamy, journal du médecin … your smooth, full sound, without any aggression, your excellent intonation, the balanced equilibrium with the orchestra, your vibrant interpretation provided me with an evening of great pleasure. Bravo! Edith Volckaert, violinist and Queen Elizabeth Music Competition laureate.
